TAMPA, Fla. — A teenager is accused of making threats toward his high school in Tampa.
The Tampa Police Department received a tip regarding a student at Robinson High School posting threatening messages on Instagram, saying he was going to bring a gun to the school. The threatening social media messages prompted the school to go on a "lock-in" while TPD and school security investigated Tuesday morning.
The student initially denied allegations but TPD later found a gun at the teen's home. The student eventually admitted to making the threats.
The student is charged with making a false report concerning the use of a firearm in a violent manner.
ABC Action News is not releasing the suspect student's identity due to the fact that he is a minor.
