Detectives are investigating the shooting of a man inside a home near Plant City.
The shooting happened just before 9 a.m. on Quail Oak Drive.
The Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office says the 53-year-old man was rushed to Lakeland Regional Hospital with serious injuries. At this time, he remains in critical condition.

Detectives said the suspect then fled the area in a silver, 4-door sedan. He's described as a Hispanic male last seen wearing a black, hooded shirt with a white design on front and carrying a .45 caliber firearm. He also has the following characteristics:
- 5'4"-5'7"
- Brown hair
- Brown eyes
- Thin mustache
- Thin build
Neighbors tell ABC Action News they heard several gunshots this morning, and then police activity soon followed.
One neighbor says a screaming woman ran out of the house where the shooting happened. The neighbor ran over to see what happened and saw the victim shot multiple times.
