DOVER, Fla. — Pat Simmons has fixed up donated bikes and given them to Tampa Bay area families in need for the past few years as part of the non-profit organization he founded, Bikes for Christ.

He recently heard of a guy called "Salvage Santa" hit hard by Hurricane Michale who does pretty much the same thing up in the Panhandle. Simmons knew he had to step in and help out.

“[Salvage Santa] lost his house and his workshop to Hurricane Michael,” says Simmons, the founder of nonprofit Bikes for Christ. “So we’re sending bikes up there to help him and alleviate things a bit.”

Simmons will still deliver bikes to Tampa Bay area families this holiday. But he is asking the community for new and used bikes to send up to the Panhandle, too.

“These kids up there, everyone up there, has been through so much," says Simmons. "So we want to bring them the best bikes possible.”
