Tina Doumet Onate has filled out more applications than she can remember.

But what this single mom from Spring Hill really wants is the chance to meet with an employer face to face.

“I’m good at just about everything, I’ve worked in so many career fields. I’m just trying to find something that’s stable that I can have a career and not just a job at,” she said.

In recent years, Hernando County Administrator Leonard Sossamon said they’ve made efforts to get businesses from around the world to relocate or expand here.

“To us it’s all about jobs, jobs, jobs,” Sossamon said.

The latest company making plans to set up shop in Hernando is e-Telequote.

They are headquartered in Clearwater and specialize in marketing and selling Medicare insurance products.

Salaries start at $45,000, but some employees can make even double that.

“We feel like we’ve got a good market for them. They like the numbers they saw,” said Sossamon.

David Hamilton helps job seekers at the Pasco Hernando Work Force Board.

He said there aren’t enough jobs for everyone in Hernando that wants one, forcing many to travel long distances to work.

But this latest move will help.

“70 jobs like that, means more homes built. More kids in schools. The flow as it goes down hill of more jobs in the services industries,” said Hamilton.

Hamilton said the Work Force Board can even help job seekers get the proper training they need to meet qualifications.

e-Telequote is looking for licensed insurance agents.

Tina is interested.

“I probably would do that. Absolutely. I am always looking to learn new things,” she said.

e-Telequote plans to hire, it’s new employees by the end of the year.

And county officials said they are working with several other companies, so those who love living in Hernando County can work here as well.
