Hernando County schools placed on lockdown after school threat hoax

Some Hernando County schools were placed on lockdown Tuesday morning after what deputies say was a hoax.

Deputies were on scene at Central High School in Brooksville regarding reports of a person walking onto campus with a firearm.

They say that at no time was there an active shooter on campus.

Deputies conducted an initial search of the campus and found no suspicious person or weapons. They found nothing during the secondary sweep as well.

The schools remained on lockdown until a roll call could be completed.
