HOMOSASSA, Fla. — Deputies have caught and arrested the armed subject they were warning residents about in Citrus County Thursday.

At about 8:30 a.m., the Citrus County Sheriff's Office Tactical Impact Unit served a drug search warrant at 6705 W. Park Drive in Homosassa.

As detectives approached the house, a man hiding in a nearby shed reportedly pointed a gun at two of them and ran from the house.

The suspect was 53-year-old George Jackson, who deputies knew was armed.

K9's and aviation were deployed and residents were told to stay inside and lock their doors as SWAT searched for the armed subject.

The search was centered around several wooded areas and abandoned homes in the nearby areas of W. Cardinal St. and Park Dr. in Homosassa.

Jackson was found about four hours later underneath an abandoned trailer. The SWAT team deployed tear gas to get him to come out and he was arrested on two counts of aggravated assault on a law enforcement officer, plus other drug charges pending further investigation.
