HERNANDO COUNTY, Fla. — The driver of a pick-up was killed in Hernando County on Wednesday morning after crashing into a school bus, according to the sheriff's office.

Authorities say seven children on the bus were treated by fire rescue officials and taken to local hospitals. FHP troopers say the children suffered minor injuries.

There were a total of 48 children on the bus at the time, on their way to Winding Waters K-8 school.

The crash happened near the intersection of Bourassa Boulevard and Commercial Way. Troopers say the truck driver, 69-year-old Michael Scott failed to stop when the bus did and ran into the back of it.
