Even with so much interest in the election, many voters worry about how to even get to the polls. That's why many public bus systems in Tampa Bay are offering free rides to the polls. Just show your voter registration card or "I Voted" sticker to hitch the free ride to and from your polling site.
Alejandra Mesa rides the bus to work every single day.
"I'm lucky to live close to the bus stop. So I track it, and if it's like within 10 minutes away, I know I need to start walking out the door," said Mesa.
So she's thrilled the Pinellas Suncoast Transit Authority is one of several public bus systems offering free rides to the polls Tuesday.
"There shouldn't be any excuse for people to miss the opportunity to vote," said Mesa.
Even many voters, like Qiana Ferguson, who are frustrated by their choices of candidates this year are still hitching a ride, getting to the polls, and voting.
"I feel it's important because my ancestors fought for the choice to be able to vote or not. So i feel everybody should vote, regardless of who their part is, it's important to use your right," Ferguson said.
Bus systems in Pasco, Sarasota, Hernando, and Hillsborough County are also helping voters get to the polls free on Election Day.
