There is now a new way to get from Dunedin to Clearwater beach.
Clearwater Ferry is officially launching its "blue line" which will take you straight to Clearwater Marina.
The service will run every Friday, Saturday and Sunday with eight departure times on those days.
This pilot program has been in the works for nearly two years.
"Dunedin was the number one answer from the ridership," says Camille Hebting with Clearwater Ferry. "So, people have been wanting to go to Dunedin or from Dunedin from the very beginning so it was a very easy decision."
Those heading to the beach can avoid the beach traffic and parking costs. We are told it is about a 40-minute ferry ride from Dunedin Marina to the Clearwater Marina.
The pilot program will continue for one year. At that point, officials will determine if the ferry service will continue and if so, how often.
Some rides during its launch weekend are already booked.
Here is how much a one-way ticket will cost you:
- $8 Adults
- $5 Dunedin resident
- $6 Seniors/Military
- $4 Children
- Children under 3 are free
