In 2007, the ABC produced show, helped a family in Tampa after their Davis Island home was destroyed in a plane crash. The Tate family lost their home and their pets. A family friend sent a video application to producers of the show, similar to this casting call and the crew showed up to rebuild their home.
So fast forward to 2019, HGTV is casting families for the reboot and a Tampa Bay Area family could make it on the show once again. The producers are looking for families who are not only homeowners looking to remodel their house into a home, but also renters and people interested in relocating to their dream home — a new twist to the show.
"The new update on the classic series is in search of those who, in particular, have given back to their community in a substantive way despite personal challenges, who have an inspirational, uplifting story to tell — and who would love to move into a beautiful new place to live – custom created for them by a team of design experts," according to HGTV's website.
