HOUSTON, TX — A Wisconsin man has been sentenced to 60 years in prison after he reportedly made a listing on Craigslist to sell his then-4-year-old daughter for sex.
Andrew Turley, 30, listed the ad, “Play with Daddie’s [sic] Little Girl," on Craigslist in 2015, according to Harris County prosecutors.
Turley was sentenced by a jury in Harris County, Texas, after being convicted of trafficking of a child and compelling prostitution of someone under the age of 18.
“This case broke my heart,” said Stewanna Miskell, with the district attorneys office. “A father is supposed to be a protector not a predator. Jurors saw the need to keep him out of our community.”
According to the Harris County district attorney’s office, he described his daughter as "younger than 10" and arranged for a meeting with a potential client in more than 70 email exchanges. However, the 'client' he was coordinating with was actually an undercover officer from the Houston Police Vice Division.
The district attorney’s office said Turley told the client that he would give the child some "sleep meds" before the encounter and implied that his daughter “might be too young for intercourse but everything else was OK,” according to ABC affiliate KTRK.
Officials say Turley charged $1,000 for two hours with his daughter.
Turley coordinated with the client to meet at a Houston apartment where the child was living with her mother. Turley was in Houston to visit with his daughter, prosecutors said.
When the officer got to the apartment, the child was reportedly laying naked under a blanket, unresponsive, according to KTRK.
The child’s mother, who was not charged, did not know what Turley was doing, KTRK reported.
Turley was sentenced to 30 years in prison for each charge, which he must serve consecutively. He must serve at least 45 years before he will be eligible for parole.
