The first text message was sent in 1992, 25 years from this past Sunday.
It's hard to believe it's been so long when many of us still remember rotary phones and collect calling, but it's true.
So what did the first text say?
It was a two word message: Merry Christmas.
Back then it was called an SMS, or short message service.
British engineer Neil Papworth sent the first ever text from his computer to a cell phone on Dec. 3, 1992.
Papworth says the person he sent the historic message to wasn't able to reply because people could only receive texts at the time.
Just imagine what we'll be able to do on our phones in another 25 years!
