BRADENTON BEACH, Fla. — Red tide is staying away from the beaches of Manatee and Sarasota Counties. Most businesses owners said they haven’t seen any signs of the algae bloom for about a week.

"It’s not here and were happy about that, it's a big gift,” said Dream Inn manager Marti Hollar.

Hollar said sales are picking up and her business is full for the holidays.

"We are so busy it’s amazing, a blessing we are full through the new year, I actually have guests who want to extend and I can’t let them,” Hollar said.

Mote Marine Scientists Dr. Tracy Fanara the algae bloom is breaking up, but there are still small patches about ten miles offshore

"There are still patches offshore and they are south of Sarasota county, but if we get north winds we can experience that respiratory irritation,” said Fanara.

She said red tide moves with wind and currents, so we could still see some of it’s impacts in the future.
