TAMPA, Fla. -- The Mega Millions jackpot is now the third largest in the game's history after no one matched all six numbers in Tuesday night's drawing.
The jackpot for the October 12 drawing is now an estimated $548 million. The cash value of the jackpot is $309.2 million.
The jackpot is nearing its all-time record high. Three winning tickets sold in Illinois, Kansas and Maryland split $656 million on March 30, 2012. A $648 million jackpot on December 17, 2013 was split among winners in California and Georgia.
The winning numbers in the October 9 drawing were 20, 22, 39, 54, 60 with 18 as the Mega Ball. One ticket sold in Florida matched four numbers and the MegaBall and is worth $10,000.
In total, there were 1,494,695 winning tickets at all prize levels in the October 9 drawing.
The $548 million is the largest Mega Millions jackpot since July 24, when 11 co-workers in a California office pool split at $543 jackpot.
Three other jackpots have been won in 2018: $451 million on January 5 in Florida, $533 million on March 30 in New Jersey, and $142 million on May 4 in Ohio.
Each Mega Millions ticket costs two dollars to purchase. The deadline to buy a ticket for the $405 million jackpot is 10:00 p.m. EDT on Friday, October 12.
