SEBRING, Fla. — A man was arrested after law enforcement investigated two bomb threats reported at Sebring and Avon Park high schools.

The Highlands County Sheriff's office says that Sebring High School received a suspicious fax about explosive devices.

Nothing had been found but the HCSO and the Highland's County School Board took the threat seriously.

The school was evacuated and parents were allowed to pick up their kids if they chose to do so at 9:30 a.m. with proper identification.

On Wednesday afternoon, a similar threat was made against Avon Park High School.

Avon Park High School evacuated due to threat, all Highland County schools put on safety closure

During the investigation into the sender of the faxes, which were sent via the internet and not a traditional fax machine, James Lee Irvin Jr., 29, was identified as the suspect and was taken into custody without incident at 2:31 p.m.

Irvin Jr. was then arrested and charged with two counts of threatening to discharge a destructive device and two counts of using a two-way device to commit a felony.
