A 53-year-old man lying on the edge of Blanton Road fatally struck and killed, officials said.

The victim has been identified as Thomas Michael Burdeshaw of Sundance Drive in Dade City.

Witnesses told police Burdeshaw had been seen lying on the ground alongside the south side of Blanton Road, east of Michael Street, shortly before he was hit, the Dade City Police Department said.

A motorist, who saw the body, told police Burdeshaw's body position had changed and he suffered trauma consistent with being struck by a vehicle.

A number of vehicles passed by the area during that time.

Pasco County Fire Rescue responded to the scene and pronounced Burdeshaw dead at 2:03 a.m. Saturday. The Pinellas-Pasco Medical Examiner's Office took possession of the body for an autopsy.

Police are asking anyone with information about the accident or Burdeshaw or the vehicle which may have struck him to contact Detective George Richardson at (352) 521-1493.
