AVON PARK, Fla. — Avon Park High School has been evacuated due to a threat made against the school.

The Highlands County Sheriff's Office says that the threat was similar to one received earlier in the day made against Sebring High School.

Students have been safely evacuated to the school’s football field. Parents may pick up their Avon Park High School students if they wish to do so. Parents should first go to Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church with proper identification. They will then go down to the football field to pick up their student.

The School Board of Highlands County says they are anticipating normal dismissal procedures today.
