ORLANDO, Fla. — Just one day after submitting a reopening plan, Universal Orlando Resort announced it would begin welcoming guests back on Friday, June 5.

"This carefully managed reopening comes with stringent new health, safety and hygiene procedures in place," the company explained on its website. "So, as we enjoy our parks together again, everyone will need to follow CDC guidelines and the recommendations of health officials, and Universal Orlando’s policies. Note that any public location where people are present provides an inherent risk of exposure to COVID-19 and we cannot guarantee that you will not be exposed during your visit.

The reopening will include the following:

Universal Studios Florida:

  • 9 a.m. - 6 p.m. Daily

Universal’s Islands of Adventure

  • 9 a.m. - 6 p.m. Daily

Universal’s Volcano Bay

  • 10 a.m. - 5 p.m. Daily

According to it's website, the following must be complied by all guests:

  • Everyone is required to wear a face covering during their visit.
  • Wash your hands with soap and water often for at least 20 seconds.
  • When present, please stand on the floor markings until the group in front of you moves forward.
  • At select locations, including prior to boarding ride vehicles, guests will be required to use hand sanitizer.
  • Temperature checks will be required upon arrival, and guests with a temperature of 100.4 degrees or greater will not be admitted.
  • Practice social distancing and keep at least 6 feet (2 meters) between your travel party and others.
  • Avoid contact with people who are sick.
  • Please follow directions from our team members and have patience as we work through these new operational procedures.

Team Members will also be required to wear face masks and have their temperatures checked.

Aside from limiting capacity and following social distancing guidelines through all attractions, restaurants and shops, Universal Orlando Resort says it will also increase its "already-aggressive cleaning and disinfection procedures and frequently clean all high-touch surfaces."

Hotel guests have early access to the parks on June 3 and 4 before the reopening to the public on June 5.

The announcement comes as Florida is currently in Full Phase 1 of Governor Ron DeSantis' plan to reopen Florida, which indicates theme parks are allowed to submit their reopening plans to state officials.
