It all started with a nine-year-old boy who just wanted to thank the police officers in his small town of Bratt, Florida.

Tyler Carach quickly realized he wanted to do more. His efforts have now turned into 20 state stops and more than 31,000 donuts given to first responders.

“I want to do it because they risk their lives for total strangers and they protect us,” said Tyler.

When Tyler first told his mom about his idea, she didn’t think it would be possible, after all, this all started with just four police officers and Tyler’s allowance.

“When he first came up with this idea, I said, ‘Let’s start local and see what happens’ because I really did not think it was a practical goal,” said his mother Sheena, who used to be a police officer.

In 14 months, Tyler has given out more than 31,000 donuts across the country.

So how does he pay for it all? Now that his campaign has gone viral, he is well known in the donut world. His mom says often times when they show up in a town, they just make a call to the local donut shop and there is a donation for his efforts.

He also sells t-shirts and has a GoFundMe page to make up the difference.
