Two new roundabouts proposed for Durant Road in Valrico to stop traffic bottlenecks

VALRICO, Fla. — Hillsborough County is looking to move forward with two new roundabouts on Durant Road where it intersects at Little Road and Miller Road. County leaders believe it will help stop traffic bottlenecks and improve safety for those who walk and bike.

The County is recommending rebuilding the intersections as roundabouts. Hillsborough County would also connect the adjacent sidewalks to improve safety.

Hillsborough County is holding a public open house to showcase the projects on Tuesday, September 24, 2019.

Time: 6:30 p.m.
Place: Mulrennan Middle School (Cafeteria)
4215 Durant Road in Valrico

The meeting will have an open house format, with a brief presentation and project displays available for viewing, according to Hillsborough County. Anyone who comes out can review, ask questions, and comment on the proposed designs.

The two new roundabouts and safety improvements are set to cost around $2.9 M.

Hillsborough County is currently in the design phase of these projects. Construction would start in late 2020 and be completed by late 2021.
