HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY, Fla. — A new project in southern Hillsborough County that could relieve some congestion in the Big Bend Road area.
A developer is working with county and state officials to extend Apollo Beach Boulevard and create an overpass on Interstate 75.
Apollo Beach Boulevard would become a four-lane highway connecting U.S. 41 to U.S. 301, according to county documents.
In those documents, officials call it a "key transportation improvement project."
Construction will also align with the Vision Zero principles, adding sidewalks and bike lanes to the area.
The road project will be paid for partially by an FDOT grant along with a developer and Hillsborough County.
A proposed construction start date has not yet been announced. You can read more about the project by clicking here.
