MANATEE COUNTY, Fla. —  The Florida Department of Transportation is closing the northbound I-75 ramp from I-275 for 10 months.

"Are you kidding me?" said driver Edwin Figueroa.

Figueroa is one of the thousands of drivers who use the ramp daily and will be impacted by this closure.

FDOT said the bridge deck over U.S. 41 needs to be replaced. This also means traffic on 41 will be impacted.

"Traffic is getting worse out here," said Figueroa.

FDOT officials understand that this will make the morning and afternoon commute longer for thousands. But they say it has to be done, so the bridge is safe for drivers.

The project will start on July 29.

Detour: I-275 southbound traffic to northbound I-75: Go north on U.S. 41/S Tamiami Trail to SR 674/E College Avenue. Follow SR 674/E College Avenue to northbound I-75.
