Hillsborough County moving forward with road fixes on Bruce B. Downs near James A. Haley Hospital

HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY, Fla. -- Major road Improvements are planned at the intersection of Bruce B. Downs Boulevard and Richard Silver Way at the entrance to the Veterans Hospital, which also serves as an entrance to the University of South Florida, to improve safety and traffic flow.

More improvements are also planned at Bruce B. Downs and Campus Hills Drive to the south of the Veterans Hospital intersection.

The County recommends adding traffic signals at both intersections, along with reconfigured medians and additional features for pedestrian safety and ADA accessibility.

Hillsborough County is hosting an Open House on Wednesday, August 28 on planned intersection improvements at the corners of two Bruce B. Downs Boulevard intersections near the entrance to the James A. Haley Veterans Hospital and the University of South Florida.

The meeting will have an open house format, with project displays available for viewing, according to Hillsborough County.

Attendees can review, ask questions, and comment on the proposed design for the $1.2 million Bruce B. Downs Boulevard at Campus Hill Drive and $1.4 million Bruce B. Downs Boulevard at Richard Silver Way Capital Improvement Projects.

The Office Veterans Affairs has fully funded the project at Richard Silver Way.
