New numbers from the Florida Highway Patrol show an increase in the number of crashes in Tampa Bay last month, following a significant dip due to decreased traffic.

In April, FHP says there were 352 crashes in Hillsborough County. The number jumped up to 505 in May. However, that total is still very low, considering there were 1,031 crashes in Hillsborough County in May 2019.

According to FHP data, the number of crashes in Pinellas County increased from 139 in April to 243 in May. Pasco County saw a jump with 321 accidents in April to 519 in May.

Meanwhile, high rate of speed citations for going over 100 mph decreased in Pinellas County by 50%, with 67 citations in April and 31 in May. The same type of citation increased in Polk County. There were 30 given out in April and 44 in May.
