PASCO COUNTY, Fla. — The Florida Department of Transportation says drivers should now save time during their morning and evening commutes as they pass through the intersection of State Road 54 and US 41.

ABC Action News first reported in March on a FDOT project to lengthen the eastbound right and left turn lanes on SR 54 at US 41.
Kris Carson, FDOT spokesperson, says that work is now wrapping up. The project, along with some signal timing adjustments, is helping to ease congestion.
“In the eastbound direction, motorists are saving between seven to eight minutes which really makes a big difference during you peak morning and afternoon commutes,” said Carson.
Carson says this project is something to help drivers right now. In the future, FDOT and Pasco County officials will work together on more comprehensive improvements.
