A Moffitt Cancer Center researcher was arrested and accused of trying to record a man while he showered at the USF Campus Recreation Center on Tuesday.

According to the police report, the victim told USF police he noticed a hand with a cell phone underneath him as he showered and realized he was being recorded.

He told police he thinks the suspect later erased the video after he confronted him.

Police arrested 32 year-old Luis A. Froes Jr. after retrieving his ID.

He was arrested on suspicion of video voyeurism.

Froes was currently working as a research fellow at the Moffitt Cancer Center and isn't enrolled at the university.

A spokesperson for the center released the following statement:

Luis Froes Jr., a postdoctoral fellow at Moffitt Cancer Center, has been placed on administrative leave after his arrest on Nov. 15. Patient care and safety were never compromised.

A spokesperson for USF told ABC Action News staff at the center that other off-campus affiliates can be members of the on-campus gym.
