Man robs Marriott Residence Inn in downtown Tampa early Monday morning

TAMPA, Fla. — Detectives are investigating a robbery at a downtown Tampa hotel early Monday morning.

Police say around 2:15 a.m., a man walked into the Marriott Residence Inn at 101 E. Tyler Street and implied he had a gun.

The suspect then took an unknown amount of cash and ran away from the hotel.

Police say a silver vehicle, possibly a Nissan, was waiting for him outside drove away southbound on N. Tampa St.

The suspect is described as black male, approximately 5'06 - 5'10 with twists in his hair. He was last seen wearing dark clothing

It is unknown if the suspect was recorded by the hotel's surveillance camera.

No one was hurt in the armed robbery.
