As the 2020-2021 school year continues during the COVID-19 pandemic, ABC Action News will take parents and guardians through the numbers of COVID-19 in the Tampa Bay area school systems.

Hillsborough

  • 55 cases in 36 schools this week
  • Newsome High School and Durant High School will both have to take some time off due to COVID-19 quarantines.

Pinellas

  • 27 cases in 23 schools this week.
  • Since school started on Aug. 24 the district has seen 77 cases.

Polk

  • 29 new cases this week
  • Frostproof Middle-Senior football coach announced he tested positive for COVID-19 on Facebook. The program is now suspending operations until Sept. 29.
  • Frostproof Middle-Senior’s games (against Avon Park, Sept. 18, and Lake Region High, Sept. 25) have been canceled; at this time, it is unlikely the games will be rescheduled.

Pasco

  • 22 new cases
  • Around 195 teachers and students have been quarantined this week

Sarasota

  • 15 new cases at 9 schools plus the district office

Manatee

  • 9 new cases at 9 schools.
  • 80 students and staff members were quarantined

Highlands

  • 2 cases at 2 schools

Citrus

  • 15 cases in 11 schools this week
