WESLEY CHAPEL, Fla. — Students are learning how to play an instrument by taking online classes during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Tampa Fine Arts Academy in Wesley Chapel offers online lessons to students.
"We've heard a lot of positive feedback from students just thanking us for being able to continue to keep up with their music lessons with everything else that has been canceled," said Larry Bigel.
Larry Bigel, the director of Tampa Fine Arts Academy, teaches guitar and piano.
The academy started offering online lessons in March using Zoom.
"I mean music has always been a lifelong friend to me....that's why I pursued music. I use to be an engineer back in the day, that's one of the reasons why I formed this academy...to be able to share passion I've had for music," said Bigel.
Bigel shared a video of him teaching an 8-year-old how to play the piano. Other instructors are teaching students how to play the guitar, the piano, drums, the violin and the ukulele.
Bigel said music lessons allow students to channel their energy in a positive way. It is crucial students continue to practice.
"If you're not keeping up with it every week, it's really easy to experience some setbacks. The nice thing is we are still able to provide private live interaction one-on-one so that way students cannot fall behind," said Bigel.
The academy provides lessons to children and adults. The academy is taking new students.
