Even though the church is closed, the church's Pastor, Father Viet Nguyen, asked his parishioners to make face masks for essential workers.

Parishioners are also making masks for the public and for children.

"I'm just so grateful I can contribute a little bit to the community and just seeing people value the masks...you feel great," said Laura Nguyen.

Kevin Tran is helping sew masks at home. Parishioners have made more than 800 face masks.

"I just want to help out because my heart is part of God's mission," said Tran.

Parishioners have handed out masks to Starbucks employees, hospital staff and other essential workers.

"God gave you time and talent and you can do it so it's just a beautiful thing," said Nguyen.

The church will hand out masks on Sunday from 11 a.m. - 2 p.m. The church is located at 4000 43rd Street North in St. Petersburg.

The public may receive a free mask, but will be asked to practice social distancing during pick-up.
