POLK COUNTY, Fla. — As students have gone back to school over the past few weeks in the Tampa Bay area, many districts are reporting multiple students and staff have tested positive for COVID-19.

ABC Action News has been reaching out to the districts and compiling numbers to help you keep track of the cases with an interactive map.

At least 12 students at Lakeland High School, which shares a campus with Harrison School of the Arts, have tested positive for COVID-19.

Polk County School Board Member Billy Townsend responded on social media, saying he’s aware of the issue and is working to get exact numbers.

ABC Action News reached out to the Department of Health to find out how many students and teachers are quarantined. DOH said that information is currently exempt from public records.

However, DOH says it’s working to make some of it available in the coming days and weeks.
