BRANDON, Fla. --  Before you know it summer will be over and the kids will be heading back to school. Thanks to Simply Events Florida, Tampa Bay area students got to get some free school supplies to get them ready.

This is the fourth year for Simply Events' annual Back to School Bash. Organizers say Brandon is always the busiest one, and this year was the same thing. People started lining up at 8:00 a.m.

“It’s a big deal,” said Sabrina Rutledge, a mother of two kids.

Rutledge said getting them ready for the new school year is always a struggle, “because it’s really expensive.” Both of her sons will be in middle school this year, which means they will need double the amount of supplies they needed in elementary school. That is why she and her family was first in line Saturday morning.

“This is very helpful. I’ll save about two to three hundred dollars thanks to this event,” Rutledge said.

Besides free supplies, the back to school bash also includes a school resource fair, face painting, scavenger hunts and a back to school fashion show. Simply Events co-owner Sonya Bradley say this is all thanks to the more than 30 vendors who donated money, supplies and time.

“Community outreach and helping the community is extremely important,” Bradley said. “That is why we do this event.”

There are three more Back to School bashes planned for the Tampa Bay area:

  • Westfield Citrus Park Mall: July 21, 10:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m.
  • Westfield Countryside Mall: July 22, 12:00 - 5:00 p.m.
  • Westfield Sarasota Square Mall: July 29, 12:00 - 5:00 p.m.
