HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY, Fla. -- Hillsborough County teachers and staff members are now eligible to faster COVID-19 test results through a new partnership with Tampa General Hospital.

For district staff members who may have symptoms of COVID-19 or may have been exposed to a positive case are encouraged to contact their onsite Hillsborough County Public Schools COVID-19 lead to schedule testing, which should provide a result with 24 to 72 hours.

Staff members will receive priority scheduling and testing will take place at one of the TGH Urgent Care Locations powered by Fast Track. There are locations across Hillsborough County.

To be eligible for free testing, teachers and HCPS employees must:

  • Display signs or symptoms of COVID-19
  • May have recent known or expected exposure to COVID-19
  • Must have Humana Insurance provided through the school district

Employees are being asked to sign a release allowing the COVID-19 test result to be shared with HCPS to ensure all appropriate protocols are followed, according to the district.

Those who are seeking testing are still responsible for a copay for the test, but the district is paying the fee for the expedited testing.
