As chilling today as it was 100 years ago, Shakespeare’s haunting and haunted “Scottish play” blooms into fully-realized glory in Giuseppe Verdi’s sumptuously scored adaptation. Punctuated with towering arias from the scheming, unraveling Lady Macbeth and demanding an unbelievable emotional range from Macbeth’s baritone, Verdi’s masterwork is a spine-tingling event that leaves an unforgettable, indelible mark.
