Little in life burns John Motley more than shaving. He’s tried every blade and cream on the market in an effort to avoid daily razor burn.
Motley finally found relief in Gillette's Fushion gel. Just one problem: the $5 can lasted for a dozen or so shaves. He went through multiple cans. All quit dispensing after just a few shaves.
Then he opened the canister and found the real problem. There was three quarters of a can of gel left in the cans even though they had stopped dispensing.
We found more than 30 similar complaints at consumeraffairs.com. Many echoed the post from Rick in New York who wrote, "I had purchased a twin-pack and each can failed to dispense more than 30% of the gel."
Motley first reported the problem to Gillette back in March. The company sent him an $8 coupon but the cans he purchased in May demonstrated the same issue.
Another call to Gillette informed this shaver there was a defect in the canister involving microscopic cracks in the bottom that allow the air to leak out.
We asked Gillette what they were doing to fix the issue. They responded with this statement.
“We have studied the issue and are making changes on the bottoms of the 'cans' to make sure they are strong enough to withstand some rough handling…Even a hairline crack or imperfection in the plastic can allow air to leak out and this would keep the contents from dispensing as designed.”
Consumers can call 1-800-Gillette for a refund or replacement or they can simply return it to the store where they purchased it for refund or replacement.
