TAMPA, Fla. -- The owner of a Tampa Bay area auto repair shop wants to give back to the medical professionals working around the clock treating COVID-19 patients.
Bob Noriega, owner of Auto Works of Tampa, told Taking Action Reporter Jackie Callaway he is offering free oil changes to health care workers.
Noriega said he’s hoping to ease the stress on medical professionals, who are logging long hours right now.
“They are putting themselves and their lives at risk and I felt like this is the least that we can do for our community,” said Noriega.
Noriega told ABC Action News he’s also making the safety of customers and mechanics a priority.
“We are sanitizing door handles,” said Noriega. “We are sanitizing steering wheels. We are putting covers and floor mats in.”
And Noriega said there's no need for customers to come in contact with anyone while getting an oil change. Car owners can drop their car keys in an outdoor lock box.
Noriega said he’s also contacted other auto repair shops to ask them to join him in the oil change donations.
“I really do hope it makes a difference,” said Noriega.
Medical professionals who want to take advantage of the free oil change offer need to show identification to make an appointment and can contact Auto Works of Tampa through their website: https://autoworksoftampa.com
