From YouTube to Playstation Vue, consumers have more options than ever when it comes to streaming TV.
Jason Penny and his family cut the cord when their cable bundle approached $200 a month. The family lashed their bill by $85 when they switched to YouTube TV.
Penny says the YouTube app provides most of their favorite network and cable channels. To get what's on the YouTube app from their smart phone to their big screen, the Penny's plugged in an Apple TV box into one TV and a Chromecast device into the other.
The downside is that it isn't as simple as turning on the remote. You may have to take an extra step or two to get what you want on the screen. And with all the offerings, choosing the right one can be a chore. YouTube, Playstation Vue and Hulu all launched live TV streaming products in the last year. Direct TV added a live streaming service and Dish offers Sling TV.
Prices range from $20 a month for Sling's basic package to $40 a month for Play Station Vue's basic plan. You can always pay for ad-ons like premium movie and sports channels.
