TAMPA, Fla. — A vodka sauce sold at Whole Foods could cause serious life-threatening allergic reactions in people with a dairy allergy.
Winter Gardens Quality Foods of New Oxford, Pennsylvania, is recalling one of its products because of undeclared milk in the product.
The recall involves Whole Foods Market Vodka Sauce with lot code 20057, which is printed on the lid.
The affected product was sold in refrigerated aisles at Whole Foods Market stores in Arizona, California, Connecticut, Florida, Hawaii, Maine, Massachusetts, Nevada, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York and Rhode Island on or after March 2, 2020.
Winter Gardens Quality Foods says the 16 oz plastic tub has UPC code: 853594006084 and an error during manufacturing caused the wrong label to go onto its reverse side.
A customer complaint regarding the incorrect back label, which contains the wrong ingredient and allergen statement, led to the recall. No illnesses have been reported.
Anyone who purchased the product is asked to return it to Whole Foods for a full refund. Consumers with questions about the recall can contact Tiffany Roney, Winter Gardens Quality Manager at 717-624-6032.
