Some Ritz Cracker Sandwiches, Ritz Bits products recalled due to potential presence of salmonella

EAST HANOVER, N.J. — A voluntary recall has been issued for certain Ritz Cracker sandwiches and Ritz Bits products in the United States due to the potential presence of Salmonella.

Mondelēz Global LLC, the company that manufactures the snacks, announced the voluntary recall on Saturday.

The company says the snacks contain a whey powder as an ingredient — which the whey powder supplier has recalled due to the potential presence of Salmonella.

Mondelēz Global adds the recall was issued as a precaution, based on the ingredient supplier’s recall.

The recall is limited exclusively to the following products below. You can also view the list here.So far, the company said there have been no complaints of illness reported to the company in connection with these products.  

People who have these products should not eat them -- and should discard any products they may have.
