2017 was a great year for some restaurants, and not so great for others. With that in mind take a look back with us at the restaurants our Wendy Ryan busted for violations throughout the year.
JANUARY:
- Domino's Pizza forced to shut down after 470+ rodent droppings discovered in kitchen
- Wendy's in Tampa shut down over the weekend for live roaches crawling in the kitchen
FEBRUARY:
- Hungry Howie's shut down due to 100+ live & dead roaches in the kitchen
- Domino's Pizza temporarily shut down by inspectors for food at dangerous temperatures
MARCH:
- Grocery store inspections lack grades following investigation into Publix
- Taco Bus temporarily closes after inspectors find sewage/wastewater leaking near food
- Cody's Original Roadhouse temporarily shuts down for live roaches in the kitchen
- Subway temporarily closes after inspectors find 135+ rodent droppings in the kitchen
APRIL:
- China House temporarily shut down for 50+ live & dead roaches in the kitchen
- Jersey Mike's Subs temporarily shut down for raw sewage leaking into the kitchen
MAY:
- Two eateries at Westshore Plaza food court shut down for 80+ roaches in the kitchen
- Brandon Mall's Ryuu Japanese Steak House temporarily shut down for roaches in kitchen
- 10 Florida cruise ships hit with norovirus in 2016 and 2017 still passed inspections
JUNE:
- Steak 'n Shake shut down for a day after live roaches were seen crawling near food
- Bombay Grill Indian Cuisine shut down for 700+ rodent droppings in kitchen
JULY:
- Cody's Original Roadhouse warned about 40 live & dead roaches in kitchen & dining room
- Alessi Bakery's rodent infestation evident by rodent droppings all over the bakery
- Local gas station inspections show dangerous food temperatures & unsanitary conditions
- Taco Bell temporarily closed for almost 60 live and dead roaches near food
- Golden Corral closes for 24-hours after 100+ rodent droppings were found near buffet
- Popeyes Louisiana Kitchen shut down overnight for 30 live & dead roaches & roach feces
AUGUST:
- Checkers shut down after inspectors find sewage leaking into the kitchen near food
- Taco Bus shut down for 2 dead rodents and evidence of live rodents in the kitchen
- Dunkin' Donuts/Baskin Robbins temporarily closed due to 200 ants crawling near food
- Cici's closes for almost 2 days for over 25 live & dead roaches inside the restaurant
OCTOBER:
- Primebar Wiregrass shut down for 2 days due to live roaches in the kitchen
- Checkers shut down for sewage leaking through floor drains into the kitchen near food
NOVEMBER:
- Golden Corral, Yummy House & Subway among 50+ restaurants with repeat violations
- 17 Restaurants temporarily closed by inspectors 2-4 times for roaches in the kitchen
- Food Vendors inside Raymond James Stadium fumbled with serious violations
