POLK CITY, Fla.—Cotton candy and ice cream make a delicious combination at Polk City Ice Cream Company. This shop sells Cotton Candy Burritos made with fresh-spun cotton candy, three scoops of the ice cream of your choice and two toppings plus sprinkles, all rolled together into a sugary burrito.
Polk City Ice Cream opened in July as a part of Polk City BBQ Company. Due to COVID, the BBQ spot wasn’t utilizing their catering storage space next door, so they converted it to an ice cream shop.
“What we wanted to do was bring something that would cheer everybody up in this town, and what better thing than ice cream,” said Joel Vann, owner and operator of Polk City BBQ Company and the new ice cream shop.
In addition to Cotton Candy Burritos, the shop offers more than 30 premium ice cream flavors—including sugar-free and non-dairy options—10-12 different toppings, milkshakes, malts, sundaes and banana splits.
Not only has this new ice cream shop been popular with Polk City residents, but it has been getting visitors from all across Central Florida.
“What we found out is we’re pulling from Winter Haven, and Auburndale, and North Lakeland. We’re pulling from Orlando and Bartow, and we’re pulling from almost 30 miles away for ice cream,” said Vann.
Polk City Ice Cream plans to expand and open up a second shop in the Lakeland area in the near future. You can visit the current location at 213 Commonwealth Avenue North. To learn more about Polk City Ice Cream, follow them on Facebook.
