HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY, Fla. — You can earn a reward for getting some exercise, exploring the outdoors and experiencing nature over the next four months.
Hillsborough County's popular Hiking Spree is back for another winter season. More than 5,000 people participated in the event last year.
There are 25 trails at 19 locations throughout Hillsborough County that are part of the Hiking Spree. The trails are rated from easy to strenuous and range from less than a half-mile to over four miles in length.
All you need to do to earn your patch or medallion is complete eight trails through the county's parks and nature preserves before March 31, 2019. One of the completed hikes can be at any location in the world of the participant’s choice.
Hillsborough County is encouraging participants to post photos from their hikes on Instagram and Facebook using the hashtag #TakeAHikeHC.
