TAMPA, Fla.—Pizza, nachos, donuts and corn dogs—not typical items that come to mind when you think of sushi. But Poke Burri specializes in making tasty sushi dishes out of your favorite foods.
Poke Burri originally started in Atlanta and just opened a new location in Tampa early February. The restaurant focuses on a more traditional Japanese style of poke, verse the Hawaiian-style or Americanized poke that can often be found in the area.
Menu items include:
- Poke Bowls
- Sushi Burrito Rolls
- Sushi Donuts — rice in the shape of a donut, topped with your choice of protein and delicious sauces
- Spicy Tuna Nachos — spicy tuna and toppings on wanton nachos
Two secret menu items to be on the lookout for are the Sushi Corn Dog (a tempura spicy crab roll on a stick topped with three mouth-watering sauces) and the Sushi Pizza (a crab and spicy tuna roll in the shape of a pizza slice with a salmon roll for the "crust"). The secret menu is constantly changing, so check their Instagram to see what they’re currently serving.
Poke Burri is located at 4034 W Kennedy Blvd in Tampa, and is in the process of opening a few more select locations across the U.S.
“We always want to be that cool, local, special place,” said Poke Burri co-founder Seven Chan. “We never want to be the chain—we never want to have a million locations, we just want to be the best.”
