TAMPA, Fla. — Mix and match scents to create your own candle at The Candle Pour in Hyde Park Village. This custom candle experience is great for bachelorette parties, team outings, date nights or just something to do to light up your day!
First thing you’ll do is select your favorite smells. There are more than 100 scents to choose from, with seasonal options mixed in depending on the time of year. You’ll mark all your favorites on a preference sheet. If you’re worried about finding a combination that will work, the staff has you covered.
“We help you throughout the entire process,” said Dennis Akers, co-founder of The Candle Pour. “So all you’re going to focus on are individual scents that you like—what we will help you do is combine those scents to make...a custom fragrance.”
After you have narrowed down your selection to 2-4 scents, one of the candle pros will help you figure out the best proportions of each scented oil to mix in with the wax.
Then once you’ve poured your candle and named it, you just have to wait for it to set, roughly 1.5-2 hours. That’s enough time to go grab a bite to eat in Hyde Park Village or to sit back with a glass of wine! (Did I mention this place is BYOB?)
Prices start at $27 for an 8-ounce soy candle, which will last about 60 burn hours. You can also choose to pour a 12-ounce, 16-ounce with 2 wicks, or a 22-ounce 3-wick soy candle. If you want to make something other than a candle, there are flameless options available:

The Candle Pour has moved to 1619 W Snow Circle. Walk-ins are accepted based on availability or you can reserve your spot online. The shop is open Tuesday-Sunday and on Mondays for pick-up only.
