ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. — Every Friday ABC Action News tries to find homes for dogs in local shelters in our Pet of the Week segment.

You have an opportunity this week to bring a unique dog named Mulder who enjoys conducting alien investigations (just kidding). He is a friendly and energetic 3-year-old basset hound/beagle mix.

According to the American Kennel Club, hounds were traditionally used for their hunting skills, a trait they keep to this day as they love chasing small wildlife like squirrels or rabbits.

Mulder arrived at Pet Pal Animal Shelter with a leg injury that could not be fixed. Veterinarians amputated his right rear leg. After recovering from his surgery, he is eagerly awaiting his new home.

Despite his new three legged status, Mulder's favorite activity is to run around in the yard, playfully chasing and running with his favorite human.

Mulder is neutered, microchipped, vaccinated and dewormed. His adoption fee is $200.
