Delta weakens to post-tropical cyclone, heavy rain threat continues

MIAMI — Delta has been downgraded to a post-tropical cyclone, but the National Hurricane Center says heavy rain threat continues.

Delta made landfall just before 7 p.m. ET on Friday as a Category 2 hurricane near Creole, Louisiana.

According to NHC's 2 p.m. update Saturday, Delta is about 80 miles west-southwest of Tupelo Mississippi and is packing 30 mph winds and is moving northeast at 12 mph.

NHC says Delta is expected to become a remnant low on Sunday.
