Will Smith, Jared Leto and Tom Hardy are suiting up for DC Comics' supervillain team-up film "Suicide Squad."
Warner Bros. confirmed the much anticipated casting of the film in an announcement Tuesday. Smith will star as Deadshot, Hardy will play the group's leader, Rick Flagg, and Leto will take on the Joker, following in Heath Ledger's footsteps. The rest of the gang will be Margot Robbie as Harley Quinn; Jai Courtney as Boomerang; and Cara Delevingne as Enchantress.
Oprah Winfrey is rumored to be the studio’s top choice to play Amanda Waller, the government agent who oversees the Suicide Sqaud, although Viola Davis and Octavia Spencer are reportedly also being considered.
David Ayer, who recently released the World War II tank thriller "Fury," will write and direct.
"Suicide Squad" is to be released in August 2016.
