BRADENTON, Fla. — Kambria Sims is a beloved event planner in the Tampa Bay region.
The tireless 27-year-old’s business, Happenings By Kambria, slowed down in a big way when the pandemic hit.
“I had a lot of time on my hands,” Sims smiles.
Instead of working weddings, Kambria decided to use her organizational talents for the greater good by helping 10,000 families a week at Feeding Tampa Bay.
“It’s all the same puzzle,” Sims says as she checks on her volunteer troops at a mega mobile food pantry in Bradenton. “You have to have all the pieces in place.”
20 DAYS FOR TAMPA BAY: Help feed families affected by the pandemic
Kambria is used to helping people but this is a new level of service, especially as the pandemic is sending more people for assistance.
“It’s truly a blessing that I can use the skills I have,” says Sims. “I couldn’t ask for more.”
Feeding Tampa Bay always needs more volunteers and donations to help it deliver more than 2 million meals every week in the 10 West Central Florida counties it serves.
