A bus rolled over after being hit by a car in Zhuzhou City of central China's Hunan Province on October 1, leaving one passenger injured.

Surveillance video footage showed that at around 1:55 p.m., a bus was hit by a white car from the left side when the bus was driving on a highway in Zhuzhou City. As a result, the bus rolled over and left one passenger injured.

A traffic police officer said it's the seat belts that helped reduce damage to passengers and drivers.

"In the video, we can see that the female passenger in white clothes didn't wear a seat belt. The bus was driving very fast on the highway, and she was thrown out of her seat due to strong inertia when the accident happened. However, the passengers who wore seat belts were firmly fixed on their seats," said Lan Feng, a police officer with the highway traffic police bureau of Hunan Province.

"The main function of the seat belt is that it can fix drivers and passengers when an accident happens, avoid the crash between people and other parts of a vehicle and reduce the damage to drivers and passengers," said Lan.
