TAMPA, Fla. -- Police are investigating a homicide at the Island Grill nightclub in Tampa early Monday morning.
Officers report the incident at 3404 E. Lake Avenue began with a fight involving several people at the club. Tampa Police officers responded to the scene around 1:48 a.m.
Tampa Police say that Kemar Odeane Officer, 27, was found deceased inside the Island Grill nightclub.
Detectives say the homicide at Island Grill does not appear to be related to any other active homicide investigations.
Though still in the early stages of the investigation, detectives have determined that several shots were fired. Detectives are also investigating a report from a man who said he suffered a stab wound at the restaurant. The stabbing appears to be related to the shooting. The victim in the stabbing received non-life threatening injuries.
Officials say that a person of interest is being interviewed out in the county.
Detectives say that the killing does not appear to be random and are working to determine the cause of the altercation.
This is not the first violence to break out at Island Grill. In October 2011, a fight among 60 people broke out inside the club. Police say people continued fighting in the parking lot outside. Someone pulled out a gun and began firing. Officers say 17-year-old John Singleton was hit and killed.
This is a developing story. ABC Action News will update as more information becomes available.
